Let's just call it Earth Week so this post isn't belated. Want to give a shout-out to one of my favorite artists, Andy Goldsworthy, whom I discovered waaay back in college. Learning about such an earthbound artist in a crunchy town like Boulder seems about right, and needless to say, I ate it up. He was green long before it was hip, starting in the late 1970's to create amazing works out of snow, twigs, leaves, flowers, stones... anything found in surrounding terrain. Goldsworthy captures his ephemeral, beautiful art by photographing it upon completion, halting the transience of nature for a brief moment before the environment begins its work. Below are a few such photographs:
Needless to say he's prolific, so if you like him look him up or buy one of his gorgeous books and be inspired.
And I'm off. Happy Earth week!
