This weekend I got on another home improvement kick. These are always costly and I typically get sideways glances from my tolerant husband, but I have so much fun constantly improving my apartment I can't help it. Recently I saw the cutest bathroom redo-on-the-cheap in a magazine and had to steal the idea. It's all based on the art of Christian Berard, who was a French designer- fashion, interior, textile, you name it. He was from what I gather pretty fab, and sadly died fairly young in the 1940's. His influence lives on though, and his painterly lines and theatrical playfulness still strike me as totally fresh and original. See for yourself:
I did all this for about $80 (and that's mainly because I had to paint the base color a purer white.) The little picture hanging is a sock puppet portrait of Charles Dickens by a New York artist named Marty. It was a gift and cracks me up every time I look at it. Enjoy!
